Time management can be defined as manipulating whatever time you have so that it works best for you. Managing your time allows you to complete the tasks in your to-do list and helps you enjoy a stress-free life.

Time management includes balancing all the hours in your day like work, rest and enjoyment. This means balancing every activity that you do in your 24 hours. It may seem like we do not have enough time in the day but believe it or not, everyone has the same number of hours in a day. Everyone at one point of time will have to decide what time to eat, do certain chores and even what time to sleep and rest. The decisions that we make become part of our time management strategy. It may be difficult or even impossible to cram and finish an hour's task into ten minutes.  But, although we cannot control time, we most certainly can manipulate the way we use our time.

When you manage your time, you are merely investing your time to complete your goals in the order that you have them prioritized. The only way to do this is to have a clear focus on the things that you want to achieve. You know you are effectively managing your time if you get more things done in less time. Keep in mind that you need to control your life and not let your life control you.

Effective time management is not only about finishing a lot of tasks in as little time possible or completing the correct things at the correct time or in the correct order. Alternatively, it is a combination of both. Know how to prioritize your to-dos and plan how you will complete them and you will see that you can achieve them in less time.

Time management is connected with goal achievement. Those who couldn't care less about managing their time may not have goals that they wish to achieve. People like this live a life with out purpose. They shift from one task to another, not knowing what they want to accomplish - having no sense of self-accomplishment.
